As an organization dedicated to the promotion of ethical behaviour, confidentiality and privacy are of utmost concern to us. We aim to ensure that our actions are consistent with our organization's mandate.

The Canadian Bioethics Society (CBS) retains information only regarding those who register to become members, receive periodic updates and information, or purchase information or services. This information is stored in a secured database accessible only by those within the organization who require access to it on a need-to-know basis.

The CBS may use your personal information and the data collected through the website to generate statistics or aggregate reports for internal use only. However, these reports will not contain any personally identifiable information - your identity remains anonymous.

The CBS will not, under any conditions, store your credit card information on any of its servers or the severs of any organization contracted to provide IT services. In fact, once your transaction has been processed, we retain none of your credit card information in our database. Though this policy necessitates your re-entering your credit card information each time you visit our site to make another purchase, it is done to assure you of utmost security.

Our on-line transaction system uses SSL encryption to ensure that credit card information is transferred securely.

The CBS will not sell or rent out your personal information to any other party. We may contract with certain trusted companies to act on our behalf by carrying out such functions as fulfilling orders and distributing information such as newsletters. Those organizations are provided with only the information needed to perform their specific function and may not use such information for other purposes.

In the event that another organization asks us to provide to them your personal information in order that they may communicate to you information that may be of interest such as those regarding ethics-related events or opportunities, the CBS will only provide this information to such a third party if you have provided your explicit written permission for us to do so.
