Feminist Approaches to Bioethics in Canada (FAB Canada)

Who We Are

The International Network on Feminist Approaches to Bioethics (FAB) is an interdisciplinary, inter-professional, and international network promoting feminist bioethics. It contributes to education, dissemination of research, reflection on bioethics itself, and public engagement. Its biennial conferences and its tier-one journal International Journal of Feminist Approaches to Bioethics (IJFAB) are fora for advancing feminist bioethics theory and practice.

FAB has multiple members living in Canada (Western, Central, Eastern and Atlantic regions), many of whom serve on the FAB Advisory Board and the Editorial and Advisory Boards of the IJFAB. Some are also current or alumni members of the CBS Executive Board. Collectively this is a group of bioethics scholars with tremendous leadership experience and academic output.

Participating in FAB Canada

FAB Canada is open to all CBS members. There is no fee for participating in FAB Canada, although membership in FAB is encouraged. In collaborating with CSB members who are engaged in feminist bioethics, our affiliate group meeting at the annual CBS meeting provides networking opportunities for FAB members in Canada and other CBS conference attendees. Our group meeting allows participants to share information about their work, brainstorm about collaborative opportunities in Canada and internationally, share news about FAB-related forthcoming events, projects, and local developments, and plan future feminist-themed panels and presentations.
